Vimy Ridge, Maple Bunker, & More!

April was a busy month for the 72nd, with cadets participating in a number of activities from ceremonial duties to a field training exercise (FTX) to highland dancing – all with several promotions received as well! Congrats to WO Lao for his promotion to MWO, and to MWO Dimalanta for his promotion from MWO to CWO

The Vimy Memorial parade this year was extra-special, being the centennial of that great battle. Cadets from all over Vancouver participated in the annual memorial which featured special remarks and reception with British Columbia’s Lt. Governor the Hon. Judith Guichon.

Later in the month cadets joined the 2472 RCACC for “FTX Maple Bunker” in Chilliwack BC. This very successful weekend covered basic field craft (making “hoochies” and improvised shelters), introduction to army rations (MRE’s – “meals, ready-to-eat”) and a fun night op activity!

Finally, as we prepare for the BC Highland Games, a small team of athletic enthusiasts began learning a Scottish Country Dance number which, with any luck, will be ready to perform in June. In the meantime, check out the practise video!
